Happy Thanksgiving to Our SETX Church Families

Thanksgiving in the Golden Triangle

The Southeast Texas Thanksgiving season is a wonderful time for the Christian community to celebrate family in all of it’s incarnations.

We celebrate with our “blood families”. Multiple generations, lots of cousins, aunts, uncles. We share memories and create new ones.

We celebrate with our “work families”, the people many of us spend 40-50-60 hours a week with. A Thanksgiving meal in the workplace is a time when everyone can let their guard down, drop their office “roles”, and really talk to each other as “people” rather than just co-workers.

We celebrate with our “adopted families”, the people we have chosen as family. These are typically childhood friends, college friends, fishing buddies, deer camp buddies, military buddies. For some reason having nothing to do with blood, we have taken these people into our hearts.

We celebrate with our Southeast Texas “church families”. These are people we sometimes see only briefly on Sundays, or Wednesdays, or at our church fellowship events. We have something in common though. A bond. It is easy to make new friends and to get close to people at church. We have something shared at the core of our lives and that makes it easy to find common ground.

We have a lot to be thankful for in Southeast Texas. We’ve come through some trials and have a chance to get stronger.

Most of us will get a break from the hectic pace of work.

Thanksgiving Nederland Tx

We have people who care about us.

The Southeast Texas Thanksgiving season is a great time for the shy among us to share Christ with others.

Most people are open to giving a paryer of thanks at  Thanksgiving, even if they don’t pray regularly.

If, like me, you’re not a hard core in-person evangelist, this can be a time to step up and offer to lead a prayer of thanks.

You never know who may be moved forward on their own personal journey of finding Christ.

Happy Thanksgiving Southeast Texas!
