Which Groves Church falls under our spotlight this edition? First Baptist Church Groves.
First Baptist Groves is fully immersed in the Groves community, working to minister to all ages.
In Southeast Texas churches, often children are the heart of the church. This is particularly seen in the summer when congregation members from young adults through our Southeast Texas senior citizens join together to provide high quality summer programs for children and youth.
Three of the kids and youth programs coordinated by First Baptist Church Groves this year standout:
- The youth attended Student Life Camp 2013 in Ruston, Louisiana.
- Children were treated to a “Sports Camp” in July at Groves Baptist Church that included football, cheer/dance, soccer, basketball, volleyball, theater/drama, and golf.
- The church congregation presented a wonderful VBS, Colossal Coaster World, in June.
In addition First Baptist Groves hosted a number of one day “mini-adventures” for Groves childrenthis summmer.
These included:
- Several movie nights in the “Kids Cube”. These are nice because they gave kids a chance to get out of the house and parents knew the kids were seeing something appropriate in a safe environment -without having to leave Groves.
- Trips to the Nederland Pool. For a child, the only thing better than spending a summer afternoon in the pool, is spending a summer afternoon in the pool with friends.
- Family days with meals
- Singing at the nursing home
- Kids Life Camp
- Getaway to Pirate’s Bay water park in Baytown
- Field Trip to Colorado Canyon in Beaumont
- A Casa Ole party for new Fifth Graders
This Groves church is ensuring the kids of their congregation, and of the community, have an opportunity to have fun, learn about the Lord, and to fellowship with other kids in a safe environment during the summer.
First Baptist Groves does a great deal in the Groves community, but their heart for service does not stop at the Groves border.
First Baptist Church Groves is active in church planting. Their Southeast Texas church planting includes:

- Community Care and Prayer
- Buckner
- Outreach Port Arthur
- Port Cities Rescue Mission
First Baptist Groves also has a heart for international missions. The congregation has been extremely supportive of church members who have been called to foreign missions.
Some of the core international missions First Baptist Groves support include: 
- Sanma. Sustainable communities through Christian missions.
- Vapor Sports Ministries
First Baptist Church Groves is dedicated to spreading the Lord’s word across Southeast Texas and across the globe.
