The congregation of First Baptist Bridge City invites Southeast Texas Christians to their 2013 Advent service which has been scheduled for December 8th.
Advent is the period preceding Christmas, beginning in most of our Southeast Texas churches on the fourth Sunday before Christmas. Some of our Southeast Texas Churches, with an Eastern Orthodox influence churches recognize Advent as starting in mid-November.
Historically, Christians have observed Advent as a season of prayer, fasting, and penitence similar to Lent.
In Southeast Texas Churches, Advent is often more informal and starts our season of Southeast Texas Christmas concerts, plays, choir productions, and special Christmas events.
