Comedy has been hot in Southeast Texas lately. There have been a couple of clubs that took a stab at being full time comedy clubs. Many A list comedians, particularly blue collar and urban artists like Ron White, Cat Stevens, Jeff Dunham, and Gabriel Iglesias have Beaumont as one of their bread and butter locations.
Another genre of comedy has a perfect fit here in Southeast Texas- Christian Comedy. For both the artist and the audience, Christian comedy and Southeast Texas go hand in hand. Let’s run down some of the benefits. Christian comedy events are non-smoking. Venues (Southeast Texas Churches) are generally large, well lit, and offer plenty of free parking. Best of all? Churches often pay all or most of the costs of bringing the artist to introduce you to their church.
One of the top names in Christian comedy, Jonnie W, is coming to Calvary Baptist Church Beaumont on June 2nd. Not only is he funny, but he 
limits his annual shows to just 100 dates per year so he can reserve plenty of quality time for his family. That is something many of us Southeast Texas Christians can take as a positive example!
Entering the comedy scene with nothing more than a guitar and his razor-sharp wit, he has gone on to entertain multi-generational audiences nationwide. He blends musical chops, mad vocals, and off-beat standup for a hilariously unique comedy experience.
Jonnie W’s success and commitment to limiting his number of tour dates for family reasons means you will likely only have one chance at seeing him live in Southeast Texas this year- don’t miss it.
