Wildwood Methodist Church (Village Mills Methodist Church) will be hosting “Camp Meeting Days” for the remainder of the summer.
Camp Meeting Days have been a tradition with Southeast Texas Methodist Churches. 
Typically Camp Meeting Days serve a number of functions for participating churches and their congregations:
- Southeast Texas Methodist Camp Meetings typically encourage casual dress. This is a real blessing during hot, humid, Southeast Texas summers!
- Another common aspect of Southeast Texas Methodist Church Camp Meetings is a departure from the church’s usual music. In some churches, congregation members are able to bring music. In many, the choir gets a “vacation” during camp meeting days.
For Wildwood/Village Mills Methodist Church, casual dress is ideal during their Camp Meeting Days.
Music will be the older, traditional Methodist hymns. The choir will have the remainder of the summer “off” during Camp Meeting Days.
This year, Camp Meeting Days at Wildwood Methodist will be in the sanctuary (in air conditioned comfort). We’ve written in the past about a Camp Meeting Days we attended at Wildwood/Village Mills Methodist that was held outdoors. There was a dulcimer player and the music was almost bluegrassy. If any outdoor events are scheduled this year, we will post an updated article.
Camp Meeting Days at Wildwood Methodist Church will run through the end of August 2013.
