Wildwood Resort City is built around Lake Kimball between Kountze and Warren on Highway 69.

Wildwood is an attractive gated Southeast Texas golf course community with lots of older couples and a recent influx of younger families.

With many residents and property owners agreeing on the need for a church in the Wildwood community, the initial service was held in Wildwood’s Activities Building, now known as The Lodge, on Sunday, December 6, 1970.

Rev. J. P. Owens, District Missionary for the New Bethel Association, led in the formation and recognition of the Southeast Texas church building project for Wildwood Resort City in Village Mills TX.

After an organizational meeting on Sunday, January 10, 1971, forty-four Baptists began the membership of Wildwood Baptist Church, and a building program was launched.

The Wildwood Association donated the land for the new church.
By April 1971, a Charter of Incorporation had been received
The Rev. J. P. Stockman of Silsbee, Texas was the original Interim Pastor.
A ground breaking ceremony for the new Wildwood Baptist Church building was held on Sunday, August 15, 1971.

During the construction period,the Wildwood Baptist Church continued meeting in the Activities Building.

For the past forty years, God has continued to bless Wildwood Baptist Church in many ways.

Wildwood Baptist Church is an active hub in the Wildwood community offering worship, Bible study, grief counseling, holiday events, and community activities year-round.

Today, the pastor is Jimmy J. Linn, “Brother Jimmy”.

Brother Jimmy is instrumental in networking with other Southeast Texas churches and congregations and helping to foster a true Big Thicket church community.

Recently, Wildwood Baptist Church completed their family life center with a state of the art kitchen, basketball court, exercise room, and several classrooms.

The family life center is currently open to the community for exercise, prayer, meditation, and other activities.
