Mark of the Lion by Francine Rivers

As a Southeast Texas Christian, have you ever experienced living in a place where you, your convictions, and your priorities don’t belong? Are you there now?

Today’s Southeast Texas Christian book review takes a look at a classic in the Christian fiction genre, “Mark of the Lion”.

Francine Rivers is a popular Christian writer who has a phenomenal way of blending historical fact, Biblical truth, and her creative story lines into moving Christian novels with the potential to take you, the reader, somewhere you have never been.

Rivers’ books have long been popular nationwide and particularly here with Southeast Texas Christian women, being passed around by three generations of women across Beaumont, Silsbee, Groves, and all over the Golden Triangle.

I highly recommend Rivers’ series; “Mark of the Lion”: A Voice in the Wind, An Echo in the Darkness, and As Sure as the Dawn.

I must point out one stumbling block, this series is set in ancient Rome and surrounding areas, so there are many foreign words and names.

Even as an avid reader it took me a bit initially to get adjusted to the unfamiliar names, but it is so worth it. In reading about other lands, cultures, and times we get a better mental picture of the stories in the Bible.Christian Book Review Beaumont Tx, Mark of the Lion Francine Rivers, Francine Rivers

So, check out a copy of  A Voice in the Wind from your Southeast Texas church or community library and visit ancient Rome (on both page and in your mind) to experience what true Biblical servitude is.

As you read Francine Rivers’ novels, I challenge you to be mindful comparing the life and times of then to now and consider and appreciate the similarities of ancient Rome and our current situation in the United States.

In living for Christ, Southeast Texas Christians too are strangers in a foreign land.
