St. Anthony’s Offers Kindergarten – 8th Grade

Today we’re going to provide an overview of Beaumont’s St. Anthony’s Catholic School.

St. Anthony Cathedral School dates to 1895. That’s over 100 years of providing quality education to Southeast Texas children. The Dominican Sisters originally arrived in Beaumont by train and rode through town in a horse-drawn carriage.

The Dominican Sisters founded Our Lady of Perpetual Help Convent School, also in 1895. Our Lady of Perpetual Help Convent School later became St. Anthony Cathedral School.

St. Anthony Cathedral School celebrated its centennial birthday in 1995 and was awarded the prestigious National Blue Ribbon School designation in 1999. St. Anthony is the only parochial combined elementary and middle school in the Diocese of Beaumont, and one of only three schools in the City of Beaumont to be granted the prestigious national award by the United States Department of Education.

St. Anthony Cathedral School was among the first Catholic schools accredited by the Texas Education Agency in the 1920s.

The school is now under the Texas Catholic Conference Education Department (TCCED), and adheres to its standards, which exceed those of the Texas Education Agency. All accreditation standards for teaching certification are met.

The program at St. Anthony Cathedral School Beaumont begins with the Early Childhood, pre-kindergarten (three-year-old program), and Kindergarten.These classes are housed in a beautiful facility surrounded by a wonderful playground area.

The elementary and middle school of St. Anthony Cathedral School Beaumont continues with first through eighth grade.

Class sizes are kept smaller than is typical in Beaumont Public Schools which allows students many opportunities for leadership in both religious and academic settings.

Weekly Mass and religion classes enhance the educational environment at Saint Anthony’s School Beaumont.

To support the educational initiatives, St. Anthony’s School Beaumont has a fully equipped science lab including a promethean board, dedicated to hands-on laboratory experimentation. This lab has been of tremendous benefit to upper grades at St.Anthony’s. Through examining the world around them, St. Anthony’s Cathedral School students learn first-hand about the true applications of science. The St. Anthony’s School Beaumont computer technology program is integrated into classrooms with Internet access for research and instructional purposes.

The St. Anthony’s School Beaumont library is an outstanding addition to curriculum and nurtures St. Anthony’s students’ love of learning through reading. The nurturing environment of St. Anthony Beaumont is further enriched by Spanish classes, fine arts emphasizing music and art, plus curriculum-based field trips for all classes.

St. Anthony’s Cathedral School Beaumont currently has over two hundred enrolled students. There is one section of each grade.
