Celebrate Christmas with your Church Family
East Texas and the Golden Triangle
We think of Christmas as a time for families to get together and spend a wonderful day together, enjoying special food and even more meaningful company.
Unfortunately, that is not always the reality for many of our neighbors and friends.
Across East Texas, many families have become fractured. Many of our neighbors, our friends even, will be spending the holidays alone.
Often the reason is simple. Many family members live and work in far off places like Virginia, California, or the Middle East. Hundred, or thousands of miles of seperation make it difficult to visit, even during Christmas.
Other reasons are more complicated. Divorce is a big one, with kids and grandchildren splitting holidays between parents.
Whatever the reason people are alone, East Texas church Christmas meals are a real blessing. A pot luck gives congregation members the opportunity to show off their signature dishes and gives many of our community members a chance to share a holiday meal with others, helping fight off loneliness and holiday depression.
To all our Golden Triangle and East Texas churches, thank you for everything you do to strengthen our communities. We appreciate you, at Thanksgiving and all year long.
We hope that this is a Merry Christmas for you and for your church family
