Born and raised in Lindale , TX , Casey Rivers is a country boy who isn’t afraid to have BIG dreams. The great news is, his love for GOD and family has put those dreams in motion and his tremendous talent for singing and song-writing has kept them there.
Casey and his beautiful wife, Doni, have 3 amazing children, all under the age of five. They make their home in Nashville , TN , where Casey became the 1st runner up, just a few years back, in the highly popular Nashville based talent television show, NASHVILLE STAR.
Casey has appeared with such country legends as Kenny Rogers, Loretta Lynn, Neal McCoy, Sara Evans, Jason Aldean, Big and Rich, and the Gatlin Brothers, to name a few. He has appeared on the Grand Ole Opry Stage, toured with the Nashville Star, and the list goes on. Needless to say, Casey has made a name for himself in the music world, lassoing hearts across the country and, even, across the world.
While he loves singing country music, his love for ministry is what makes everything work together as God planned it. With all the success he’s experienced, the call to honor God has never faded. In 2008 Casey joined and toured with successful Christian music group, Beyond The Ashes (BTA). The group traveled nationwide to over 200 dates per year. In that time, they saw great big, GOD-sized success, from top 10 radio singles, to a variety of awards, and, most of all, to a real, heartfelt impact in the lives of the thousands of fans they sang to.
In addition to his overwhelming love for his own kids, Casey is actively involved with sharing the ministry of Compassion, Intl wherever he travels and sings. Compassion is a child sponsorship organization striving to release children from poverty, around the globe, in Jesus’ name.
Rivers began singing at the age of three. “I remember singing at church,” he said. “My parents were in a local quartet and would go around to local churches and sing. I had a chance to be around it all of my life, to be at their sound checks and rehearsals. I’ve had a love of music all of my life.”
His family has been the biggest musical influence on his life, his parents having given him his love for music at an early age. His family also has been a great personal influence for him. His parents are Allen and Laneigh Childers and Roger Rivers.
“I would say that both sets of my grandparents also were a huge influence on me,” he said. “We all went to the same church, both sides of my family, a little Baptist church in Lindale, Texas. The example they set before me is something I’ll always consider a huge blessing. And I’m greatly blessed to still have them. So many people don’t have grandparents in their lives. I have almost three sets. One grandparent died when I was young. Their names are Reba Rivers, and Jimmy and Gloria Smith, and I have a step dad who raised me since I was five, and my grandparents on his side are Ed and Joyce Childers.”
Rivers said that God has blessed his life since he was very young. “I came to know Christ as my Saviour at five years old,” he said. “I know that having Christ in my life at an early age spared me from a lot of things. Conviction in my life has been a huge thing and helped steer me in the right direction, having the Holy Spirit as my guide. I feel blessed in that.
“And I’ve had the blessing of my family. I have a wife, Doni, a daughter, Audra, and a son, Stellan. The support of my wife is key for me, that we’re able to continue doing what we’re doing. We’re on the road somewhere around 230 dates a year. To have a wife that’s strong in her faith and understanding makes it so much easier to do what we do.”
A favorite verse of his from childhood is John 3:16: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.Another favorite remains Ephesians 2:8-9: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. “Life gets tough enough, and we try to do a lot of things on our own,” he said. “You just realize, the older you get, the dependency on Jesus. There are quite a few other verses that I’m loving now, the more I do my daily devotionals, but those are definitely two that stick out.”
When asked what he would say to someone who has not yet given their life to the Lord, he answered, “Jesus Christ is the best thing that has ever happened to me, and life is too tough to live it without Him. I would hope for them to understand that God loves them so much that He did send His only Son to die on the cross for our sins. How great a love that is. They don’t know what they’re missing out on.”
