Every single year, my great scheduled Southeast Texas homeschool plans are laughed at and mocked by this thing called LIFE.

Your SETX homeschool lesson plans look great on paper. Real-life education takes place in much more of a sporadic, spontaneous, what’s next kind of way and for those of us who like schedules…….this can drive Southeast Texas homeschool moms nuts!

But, maybe I’m learning to go with the flow a little more. Maybe this is truly the way God designed my family.

It would be so like God to use this non-predictable way of life to grow me, challenge me, make me flexible in ways I never thought I could be.

So, in the midst of the sudden colds, sore throat, coughing spells, allergies, music obligations, 20 year old being home more, 14 year old requiring more sleep, husband’s ever changing work schedule, and all of my regular household duties – we are taking care of our Southeast Texas homeschooling, but it’s often lessons on the fly.

It’s all hours, all day, in the car, at our Southeast Texas homeschool co-op, at church, at music gigs, in the kitchen, when Dad describes what the government is doing, when big brother talks about music with little brother, when mom talks about dating with 14 year old (no, not now), and when standing in the nursing home, loving on all the wonderful Southeast Texas senior citizens.

We are learning…..but not the way of the world. Not the way of the system. Not the way it’s expected.

But, we are learning.

That can be what Southeast Texas homeschooling is all about.

And I am learning that when you pray and pray and pray for God to help you organize your life and your Southeast Texas homeschool planning, and to get your act together, and year after year it goes more in the direction of all over the place rather than in a perfect little box, that maybe it’s because God wants it this way.

Maybe He wants me to see the WHOLE, rather than the pieces.
Maybe He wants me to give my control thing over to Him, once and for all.
Maybe He knows that He can teach whenever and whatever and in the manner He chooses, if only I would step out of the way.

Yeah, just maybe God’s got this.

I’m pretty sure that’s it.

Ever learning; ever changing. Learning to lean on Him.
