Introduction to First United Methodist Church Nederland

First United Methodist Church Nederland is a central part of the community.

Their service to the Nederland community puts them in today’s Nederland church spotlight.

First United Methodist Nederland has a wide variety of ministries for kids, youth, women, men, and seniors.

At First United Methodist Church of Nederland hasn’t neglected the men. There is a weekly men’s breakfast every Thursday at 6:30. This is a wonderful time for men to fellowship and to strengthen bonds that will help them in their service to their families, the church, and the Nederland community. Southeast Texas men are typically slow to open up, especially to each other. The man sitting at the next pew at your Southeast Texas church can be a complete mystery. Maybe you know where he works, but often little more. Informal fellowship opportunities like the First Methodist Nederland Men’s Breakfast can be a wonderful time for men to get to know each other and to create lasting bonds.

First United Methodist Nederland

There are a number of special programs for women at First United Methodist Nederland including:

United Methodist Women. These mission-oriented Nederland women meet on the first and third Wednesdays monthly during the school year, and on the 1st Wednesday of each summer month at 9:30 a.m. The evening Circle meets each Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. The purpose is for women to know God, experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, and expand concepts of mission through participation in local and global ministries. All women of the church are invited!
Celebration Women’s Ministry. Based on Luke 4:18-19, this woman to woman ministry is about sharing, encouraging, discipleship, and mentoring other women in the faith. The First Methodist Nederland group focuses on salvation, healing, and equipping. There is a Celebration event on the 1st Saturday of each month from 9:30 til noon. Typical events include brunch, praise and worship, a special speaker and one on one prayer time. All women age 13 and up are invited!

FUMC Nederland

This is also one of our Southeast Texas church’s with a heart for senior ministry.

They have a very active program, “Golden Friends”

The Golden Friends group meets Tuesdays at 9 am in the CFC for Food, Fellowship and Games. All Nederland seniors are invited.

In addition, the third Tuesday of the month the Golden Friends meet at Cowboy Red’s at 7:30am for breakfast.

The senior Sunday School group is the “Fellowship Class”. This mature group of age 60+ follows the Methodist curriculum of Adult Bible Studies and have great Bible discussions. They have additional get togethers for birthday and holiday parties.

This is a big Nederland church with lots of stories to tell: ministries, missions work, community service, and special events throughout the year.
